Born Ugly is the Russian version of the cult Colombian television series Yo Soy Betty, la Fea. After the phenomenal success the series enjoyed in Latin America similar versions of the project began to appear all over the world. In every country the adopted version of the series repeated the success of the original and Russia is no exception.

According to statistics the broadcast of each episode of «Born Ugly» has attracted no less than a third of Russian viewers. Even the transmission of the Russia vs. Portugal game as part of the football world cup did not draw Russian viewers away from the series.

And there is nothing surprising about it. The blend of a modern-day Cinderella story with the traditions of Russian romantic comedy could not have failed to move the viewers.
